AWAY from the star sprinter Chautauqua, who trialled strongly again, a couple of two-year-old jump outs down the straight on Friday held plenty interest.

They were ‘dominated’ by Tony McEvoy whose well bred colt called Domination produced a strong last 200m or so to win running away.

The second heat for the youngsters at Flemington was also won by McEvoy with the filly Miss Wahoo holding off a late surge from the Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra trained Double Jeopardy.

Heat 1 (45.30): WHAT A HOOT and LILYMORN shared the lead from RAPTOR (3g, O’Shea) improving along the inside. HEATHERLY didn’t jump well but ran through to fourth. Raptor took over late under some niggling Heatherly finished better on the fence. A couple to What A Hoot in third. Others: Baroota, Bullpit.

Heat 2 (45.55): BLACK VANQUISH showed speed and led from HIGHLAD easing CHAUTAUQUA. COOL CHAP wasn’t far away. Black Vanquish travelled okay in front but Chautauqua picked him up easily and edged away. Not much between Highlad and Cool Chap for third. Other: Husson Belle.

Heat 3 (46.18): SURFER JOE (3g, Corstens) took it up with ZEPHORA (3g, O’Brien) on the outside. Just over a length to ROCKSETTA and ELIOT (3c, O’Shea). Surfer Joe was ridden along and held a clear margin over Rocksetta who wasn’t tested and a few lengths to Eliot.

Heat 4 (46.20): JESTER JEWEL held the lead from PERCIVALL POTT and KENRIC (4h, Waller) three wide. LADY OF DARKNESS (3f, Hayes/Dabernig) was under a bit of pressure early to stay with them. Jester Jewel pushed out and kicked about four clear of Lady Of Darkness getting past Percival Pott. Other: Reset/Queen Josephine.

Heat 5 (46.12): Not a lot between five of them led by FRANKINCENSE. KILMACURRAGH, EXILIA MISS and WHAT A SHOCK kicked up underneath and SWORD OF JUSTICE eased a length. With the inside running Kilmacurragh downed What A Shock and Exilia Miss with about a length between them. Other: Go Public.

Heat 6 (46.60): TEMERITY easily led them and the other four settled in a line a few lengths back. SCANDAL SHEET inside MAJESTIC, SUPANEMO and LA VOLT. Temerity stayed wide on the track and ran third while Scandal Sheet finished better on the fence from Majestic.

Heat 7 (46.30): SCHILLERAINE had the early lead then HORINO and DANGER IN DEVON (3g, Ellerton/Zahra) joined in. SILENTZ (3g, O’Brien) railed through behind them. Heat 8 (45.10): TOKELAU opened up a big lead over GERVAIS and LAW MAJOR. They got away from STRATUM/IPIOGA (Ellerton/Zahra). Tokelau kept running without being pushed out and scored by four over Law Major Gervais together. Other: Duchess Glamena.

Heat 9 (straight, 47.31): MADEENATY (2f, Hayes/Dabernig) showed speed to lead from BOX ON COLLINS (2c, McEvoy), while DOMINATION McEvoy) improved ahead of PLATINUM (2c, O’Shea). Madeenaty was held together in front while Domination stretched out without being really pushed to win. Box On Collins was a couple away in third. Other: Sunquest.

Heat 10 (straight, 47.41): MISS WAHOO (2f, McEvoy) just led COROGLEN (2c, Hawkes) with ALL EEZ closest to the outside fence. STRYKER/JAZZ BABY (Lechmere) was on the inside of that trio.
