Race 1: Miss It And A Bit - the explanation of trainer Paul Maher for presenting the mare late on course was accepted.. Niminypiminy - slow to begin. Jeanneau when giving ground was tightened for room at the 250m by Hell Or Highwater (Chris Caserta) which shifted out; Chris Caserta was advised to exercise more care.. The RV veterinary surgeon reported the mare to have an ocular condition and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.. Sea The Sparkle (GB) - shifted in slightly at the 100m and brushed Hell Or Highwater which was shifting out.. Hell Or Highwater - at the 100m brushed Sea The Sparkle (GB).. Apprentice Chris Caserta was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out fully

Race 2: Modern Wonder - fourth placegetter; correct weight was delayed when rider Stephen Baster viewed the patrol film before deciding not to lodge an objection.. It was established that near the 200m, Modern Wonder was crowded for room between Sullivan Bay and Petites Reward, which shifted out before being straightened.. Began awkwardly.. Written Era - bounded at the start and was slow to begin. Little Indian World Of Hope - Oregons Day hung out from the 700m.. Rider Damien Oliver confirmed the mare ran on well over concluding stages.. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and a swab sample was taken for analysis.. Race 5: Ill Have A Bit - after being fractious in its starting stall was slow to begin. Undoubtable Miss - raced three wide without cover.. Rider Ryan Maloney was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out fully to the finish.. Arctic Angel - rider Damian Lane advised that the filly dipped and lost its action briefly near the 70m and for this reason he stopped riding for a few strides..
Race 6: Wait For No One - connections advised would be ridden quieter in an attempt to settle; raced keenly and wide without cover outside the leading horses. Cliffs Edge - began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Poseidons Pool. Poseidons Pool - bumped on the hindquarters by Cliffs Edge at the start. Kobayashi - raced keenly through the early stages.. A Thousand Degrees - raced keenly through the early and middle stages.. Rider Luke Currie could offer no explanation for the performance.. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.. Veranillo - hung inwards in the home straight.
Race 7: Gailo Chop (FR) - raced three wide without cover. Humidor (NZ) - laid inwards in the home straight. Black Heart Bart - laid out rounding the home turn and in the straight.. Beaten favourite; a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to me mildly lame in the near hind leg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.. Hartnell (GB) - rider Craig Williams pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR118A for failing ride in the gear he weighed out in, that being had changed a heavy vest for a lighter vest after having weighed out to make the weight for subsequent ride in Race 8.. Craig Williams was fined $1000.. Craig Williams pleaded guilty to a further charge under the provisions of AR145 for returning to scale in excess of one kilogram over his declared weight and was fined a further $1000.. In arriving at this decision it established that Craig Williams had realised behind the barriers, by wearing lighter vest he potentially ran the risk of weighing in underweight and therefore, risking disqualification, he then took it upon himself to seize some farrier equipment and place it in his riding boot ensure he would not be underweight.
Race 8: Lord Von Costa - slow to begin.. Checked severely just prior to the home turn near the 350m, after making contact with the running rail by shifting in and away from Brave Smash (JPN).. Santa Ana Lane - slow to begin.. Steadied at the 200m to avoid the heels of Murt The Flirt.. Brave Smash - slow begin. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Vega Magic - raced keenly and wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Lord Da Vinci - fifth placegetter; rider David Pires was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of AR137(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the finish hands and heels.. David Pires was fined $500 and in assessing penalty took into account his good record.. Murt The Flirt -a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be distressed post race. Most Important - rider Mark Zahra reported the gelding was worked up pre-race and hung out rounding home turn then gave ground in the straight.. Race 9: Divine Mr Artie - late scratching by order of Stewards at 2.20pm when trainer Brendan McCarthy advised that the gelding was showing signs of colic. Nevis (IRE) - connections advised would lead today; raced wide behind the leaders after failing to muster sufficient speed
lead.. Hampered at the 1000m when taken out off its course by Ozi Choice which when over-racing shifted out across the heels of Majestic Duke which was also shifting in.. After taking into account that Ozi Choice (Ben Allen) was racing fiercely and that Majestic Duke (Chelsea Hall) had shifted in and contributed to this incident, the Stewards notified Chelsea Hall and Ben Allen to exercise more care when in similar circumstances future.. Severely checked near the 350m to avoid the heels of Ozi Choice which had shifted out away from Majestic Duke which in turn been taken out slightly by Oscars My Mate Pa (Beau Mertens).. This tightening was accentuated due to Nevis (IRE) having also shifted in slightly.. After taking into account all of the circumstances, Stewards notified Beau Mertens that he must ensure that he is clear of runners to his outside when shifting ground in future.. Mr Wonderful - steadied at the 1350m to avoid the heels of Ozi Choice (Ben Allen) which was shifting in; Ben Allen severely reprimanded. Tahanee (ARG) - got its head up in the early stages when over-racing. Wayanka - held for clear running from the 500m and near the 350m was steadied when disappointed for a run between Nevis (IRE) and Ozi Choice. Tiamo Grace - steadied at the 350m to avoid the heels of Nevis (IRE).. Here To There (NZ) - apprentice Ethan Brown dropped his whip near the 200m..
