Race 1: 1 SEVERENCE 22/07/2017 Kembla Grange Was badly crowded on jumping. Making the first turn near the 1100m was steadied when briefly tightened. Stewards approved application to apply Blinkers to last start winner on the basis that trainer felt colt had worked better in the gear and been more focused with the addition of Blinkers in its work. 2 DRAGON’S SHADOW 3/08/2017 Hawkesbury When qst re racing in the lead, trn std instr rdr to be pos out of gates as gelding has not prev shown any gate speed in only race start. Added was intention to lead, however with blks on first time, after beginning well & after being urged along out of gates, was able to obt leading pos. When qst re gelding¿s imp perf, trn std in her opinion it had benefited with addition of blks & was able to dictate terms when leading. Added in her view gelding had derived benefit from its first start. 4 AUGUSTUS 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. 6 PRIDE OF DARCI (NZ) 10/08/2017 Taree Slow to begin. Passing the 550m was steadied from heels. 7 CAMPAIGN 10/08/2017 Kembla Grange COT - To be ridden more forward; settled back. Bounded on jumping and lost ground.
Race 2: 1 EXOTERIC (GB) 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park Slow to begin and lost ground (3L). 2 METEOROLOGIST 3/08/2017 Coffs Harbour Inclined to lay in down the straight. 4 BON EQUUS 17/08/2017 Gosford Raced keenly in the middle stages. 5 QUEEN OF HEIGHTS (NZ) 2/08/2017 Warwick Farm For some distance leaving the straight on first occasion had to restrained off heels and then near 1600m was checked & continued to be awkwardly place on heels. Overraced in the middle stages and when steadied away from heels, shifted out and then was allowed to stride forward and race outside the leader near 1000m.
Race 3: 2 AL MAH HAHA 2/08/2017 Warwick Farm COT - To be ridden more forward; settled back. Passing the 100m shifted out. Over
final 40m commenced to shift out & proved difficult for rider to ride the colt out in his usual fashion. 5 SMARTEDGE 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park Rdr std intent to have geld pos behind leaders but after beginning fair, blundered, lost ground & momentum & despite being ridden along was unable to muster speed to cross rnr & was left racing wide without cover. Added then laid out from 500m, proved difficult to ride & shifted ground noticeably in straight. Post race vet rev no abs. Rdr reminded of obligation to ride mounts out fully to finish. Co-trn since reported was satisfied with geld post race cond & intention was to cont with its prep. 7 SHAKHAN 19/07/2017 Warwick Farm Slow to begin. 10 SMOOTH LANDING 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park From its wide barrier, was steadied back & across runner after the start. Approaching 100m was steadied shifted out away from heels. Rdr advised mount laid in in straight, however, was reminded of his obligations to ride mount out fully to end of the race.
Race 4: 1 REALISE POTENTIAL 5/08/2017 Royal Randwick Re his riding in the early part of the straight, rdr stated he followed another runner into the straight with a view to that runner taking him into the race. Std when that runner did not quicken as he had anticipated he then, after being briefly held up on heels, shifted to its outside in order to improve and obtain clear running approaching the 200m. 3 WING SNIPPER 24/07/2017 Scone Began awkwardly and was bumped heavily at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. 7 PHOEBE’S LASS 2/08/2017 Warwick Farm Made heavy contact with another runner on jumping, as a result had to be checked when taken across heels. 8 BROCKTON PUNCH 30/07/2017 Sapphire Coast Held up for some distance on straightening on heels and had to be shifted in to obtain clear running.
Race 5: 3 FORTENSKY 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park COT - To be ridden more forward; led. Slow to begin. When qst, rdr advised as informed to the Stewards, he had been instructed to have the horse ridden further fwd. Added was able to obtain a position outside the early leader, in his view without placing early excess pressure. When that rider commenced to restrain her mount, as he felt he would have had to restrain unduly to sit back off that horse, allowed mount to stride fwd & ultimately lead. 5 TAP THAT (JPN) 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park COT - To be ridden more forward; led. 7 KOKOPU 10/08/2017 Kembla Grange En route to barriers, dislodged its rider before galloping riderless for a short distance. Underwent vet exam after arriving at barriers & was passed fit to start. 10 ARIGOLD 16/08/2017 Canterbury Park Near 1200m inclined to overrace. Then continued race keenly and was unable be restrained by its rider and shifted out & left racing wide without cover for the remainder of the event. 11 CONCESSIONS 3/08/2017 Hawkesbury A postrace vet exam revealed no abs.
Race 6: 1 AJANI 20/07/2017 Gosford Passing the 1000m brushed with another runner, as a result became unbalanced. 5 CENTRO SUPERIOR 2/08/2017 Warwick Farm Raced wide without cover throughout. 10 PERIZADA 2/08/2017 Warwick Farm Raced keenly in the middle stages and got its head up. 11 EMINENT DUKE 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park Laid out from the 500m. 15 ECCELLERE 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park Raced wide and without cover throughout. 16 TIP TOP 9/08/2017 Canterbury Park Crowded on jumping for room. Near the 700m was carried wider. When questioned, rdr advised that the pre-race intention was to have horse ridden quietly as it was at its most recent start.
Race 7: 2 HE’S A GIVEN 22/07/2017 Royal Randwick Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running until passing the 200m. 2 HE’S A GIVEN 5/08/2017 Royal Randwick The Club’s Veterinary Officer reported that an examination of the gelding revealed it was displaying blood in its nearside nostril. Acting on veterinary advice, the gelding was withdrawn at 12.44pm. Trainer advised that a veterinary clearance would be required and the gelding must gallop to the satisfaction of the Stewards or barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again. Vet clearance received & trialled W/Farm 14/8/17. 3 MEINER FRECCIA (JPN) 8/07/2017 Warwick Farm Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. 6 BOLERO KING 5/08/2017 Royal Randwick Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Inside 200m raced in restricted room between runners. 13 KELVINSIDE 27/07/2017 Beaumont Newcastle Overraced approaching the first turn, commenced to hang out and consequently was unable to maintain its position one off the fence and raced wide for
remainder of the event without cover. 16 CHOICE LARGA 10/08/2017 Kembla Grange Shortly after straightening was disappointed for a run to the inside of another runner & as a result was held up and unable to be tested for the remainder of the race. 17 CHARMING LAD 16/08/2017 Canterbury Park Slow to begin. Near 250m became unbalanced.
