Clearly on song

Group 1 sprinter the improve after trial

The Sportsman Midweek - - News -

GROUP 1 winner CLEARLY INNOCENT may have appeared a tad lacklustre in his Gosford barrier trial on August 25 but he was certainly song a gallop six days later.

The classy sprinter worked off steadily from the 1000m on the course proper (20 metres) and was only asked to quicken from the 600m.

Under the guidance of Louise Day, Clearly Innocent was under a firm grip as he reeled off a 36.80 with the best part of his work the final 100m-he attacked the wire savagely.

After winning the Group 1 Kingsford Smith (1300m) at Eagle Farm in late May Clearly Innocent was disadvantaged when the Group 1 Stradbroke was transferred to Doomben but still ran a courageous third.

Another Group 1 horse THE MISSION may resume in Saturday’s 2 Run To The Rose and the Champagne Stakes winner is a healthy colt.

The powerful three-year-old looked treat when strolling over 800m in 53.20 with a last 600m in 37.70 and had heaps in reserve.

ALL AFLUTTER will be hard to toss in Benchmark 55/60 judging by her strong gallop on Saturday.

The dark grey mare strode over 800m in 53.65 (37.80) and impressed with her late surge to the line.

Quality mare IN HER TIME had a quiet trot and canter as she prepares for some deep Group events in the next two months.

She was scheduled to trial at Rosehill yesterday and I can’t wait for the O’cass report!

One day everything will fall into place for WHAT COULD BE and he will salute at juicy odds.

His gallop over 800m in 49.25 (34.60) was an absolute watch stopper.

Lightly raced Lonhro gelding CORDDONED has found his way from Godolphin to the stables of Kris Lees and looked part when stretching over 800m in a comfortable 56.10 (40.80).

A few placings on the provincial circuit are his best performances so a set weight Maiden looks ideal.

BANNER SEASON, a 1600m Maiden winner before going to the paddock, has returned in fine order and may develop into a handy stayer.

The three-year-old son of Medaglia D’Oro was just out for a light workout doing 1000m in 1.11.60 (40.40).

GADFLY took no harm from his win at Wyong last week and looked an absolute treat when cantering on the pro ride.

Have no fears if he backs up at Warwick Farm tomorrow.

INTRINSIC is a promising filly who has benefited from her two barrier trials and to the eye she will produce first-up.

The daughter of So You Think did a steady 55.90 (40.60) in preparation for her return which could be tomorrow.

Spotted two lovely Gooree owned fillies cruising over 800m in 54.95 (39.90) and the unraced pair are bred to run.

HEAT HAZE (Fastnet Rock) and NAIS KO (Exceed and Excel) had educational barrier trials last month and derived benefit from the experience.

Clearly Innocent is working well as he prepares for his return
