MORNINGTON (WED)

The Sportsman Midweek - - Trackwork - — Greg Spletter

It’s an incredible meeting at Mornington for a midweeker and HEAR THE CHANT (R8 No. 4) is just one of several Saturday class runners lining up. She went like the clappers first-up and did an amazing job not to capitulate in the straight. In the end it took a handy one in Fragonard to run her down, and back to the 1000m here from the good draw she can go one better.

ANDREA MONTEGNA (R3 No. 2) hasn’t done much wrong since coming over from France with two victories from three Australian starts for the D Weir team and can make it three four. He handled the very soft track at Hillside comfortably in his latest win stepping to 1800m and he is bred to get a lot further so step up in distance won’t stop him. THINK BABE (R9 No. 1) showed ability against better opposition when last in work and gives us a good out if we need one the last. He won two in row at the provincials prep before pushing Sword Of Light to a half length at Caulfield and that is good enough for me.
