THE EARLY CROW

The Sportsman Midweek - - Flemington Preview -

THE BANKER

Punters are likely to warm to Invincibella (Race 3). Sat behind the speed and ran on well without really threatening the winner Lubiton at the Valley in record time. Beat Lubiton before that and only start here ran third to Jennifer Lynn over 1400m on Cup day last year. The trip suits and lot to like about her chances.

THE LAY

Bookies may well take a risk with Life Less Ordinary (Race 8). Has to win first-up from a let-up after failing in the Group 1 The Metropolitan at Randwick. Also has to have first start Flemington and has a wide draw to contend with. Also to overcome a strong field including a last-start track record breaker in Lubiton. Could be under the odds.

AT THE TRIALS

Aristocratic Miss (Race 1) only faced three rivals but looked very smart winning a trial at Morphettville on October 26. Didn’t win by a big space but had something in hand at the finish. From the strong Tony McEvoy yard and expected to be in the finish on debut.

SECTIONAL STAR

Counterplay (Race 6) was excellent in running a closing third to Our Crown Mistress at Caulfield last time. Missed the start but worked into the race before the turn and then carved out best last 600m, 400m and 200m of the race, his final sectional a smart 12.26s. Gets his chance to break through.

THE STATS SPEAK

Turnitaround (Race 8) will be a bit of a roughie but could sneak place at odds. Traditionally does his best Flemington where he was won three and ran second four times from 10 starts at the track. Also won two of four this distance. Not disgraced in the G1 Toorak behind Tosen Stardom two starts back. Worth a play.
