MAGNA BELLA (Race 5 No. 12) - is one for the breeding buffs to get excited about. This filly is by Magnus out of a Bel Esprit mare which makes her a very, very close relation to Black Caviar. The Will Clarken trained chestnut ran wide on the turn in only trial but looked good once she balanced up the straight and was doing things late. Nice type.
SECRETLY DISCREET (Race 3 No. 8) - is part of SA racing royalty being from the Discreet dynasty. This typical Lonhro is out of G1 winner Maybe Discreet who won an Oaks and a Manifold. Granted, this one trialled a bit like a miler/oaks type herself but is first run and it’s 1200m, not 1000m.
SWEET MISCHIEF (Race 4 No. 10) - speaking of Oaks’, this Tony McEvoy trained mare ran 9th in the 2017 VRC Oaks with Jamie Kah up. She’s on board again tomorrow in what is a tad easier than a G1 at Flemington being a maiden at Gawler. second-up and at the right trip.
