Begg’s colt to Write another Group 1 chapter
WRITTEN BY appears to have had a faultless preparation leading into Saturday’s Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and trainer Grahame Begg took the opportunity to give him a look at the Flemington straight course in a jumpout over 800m last Friday.
The son of Written Tycoon looked most tractable sharing the speed and won the heat in
time of 46.14. Close up behind him a high quality field were LONG LEAF, VOILA, LEAN MEAN MACHINE and ZOUSAIN.
All horses mentioned seemed to be travelling comfortably and look ready to run to their best in the Group 1 event.
PATRICK ERIN and BRIMHAM ROCKS travelled to The Valley last Tuesday morning for ‘ Breakfast with the Best’ and the Chris Wallertrained stablemates were kept up to the mark with a workout over 1200m.
They completed their assignment in 1.21.06 with neither horse being placed under any real pressure in the home straight to run their final 400m in 25.04.
Waller has the two gallopers at peak fitness and they are sure to run well when line up next.
Patrick Erin will contest tomorrow’s Bendigo Cup while Brimham Rocks run in the Lexus Handicap this weekend. Saab Hasan gave ALL
ABOUT RHYTHM a fairly
easy time during last Friday’s jumpouts and she looked in good shape following her second trip to the jumpouts recent weeks.
After travelling a bit wide in the heat conducted over approximately 800m on the steeple grass track, she was held together over the concluding stages to finish about two or three lengths behind HOLBIEN who stopped the clock in 45.36. During her other jumpout, she rode speed and passed the finishing post alongside Malibu Style and is forward enough to run well at Bendigo tomorrow.
BOLEK is ready resume and the Mike Moroney-trained galloper has been progressing well in recent weeks.
Last Thursday morning, he pulled up well after covering 1000m in 1.09.86 and his last 400m 25.57.
Moroney has given him a solid groundling leading into his first-up run and although he will improve in fitness with a run or two under his belt he should give his backers a good sight when he resumes at Bendigo tomorrow.
I AM EXCITED has come through her last start victory in terrific shape and David Pfieffer kept up to the mark with a jumpout over 800m down the straight course last Friday.
She maintained a strong gallop all the way to win the heat in 46.61 from SANTA ANA LANE, who closed off in eye catching style, with TRUE EXCELSIOR and VIRIDINE finishing behind him.
Pfieffer has a few options for I Am Excited over the week of racing at Flemington and she is sure to prove hard to beat in any race she contests.
