Revenge for Comepsa

The Sportsman Special Issue - - 2 -

WHILE the Larry Cassidy and Gwenda Markwell combination shoot for Carrington Stakes victory with Al Be Nimble, a race earlier they have another strong chance of victory with Comepsa.

The four-year-old gelding was narrowly beaten last start by Certain Magic at Rosehill but Cassidy was confident Comepsa can turn the tables on that galloper on Tuesday.

Hurried Choice may also contest the race, although she is also entered for the Carrington Stakes.

Comepsa had to overcome a wide barrier last start and was just run down by Certain Magic in the final few bounds.

Comepsa’s a lovely horse’’ racing manager Len Fownes said.

We’ve put him in this (Rating 93) race to bring him down in weight. He did a fantastic job last start to only be grabbed late by Certain Magic and they beat the rest very easily.’’

Comepsa will jump from barrier two this time as Markwell’s horror run with barriers in recent weeks appears to have eased.
