Song still capable of topping charts
WIDDEN boss Antony Thompson isn’t giving up on resident sire Your Song being crowned Champion First Season Sire.
Your Song currently sits in second spot on the table sandwiched in between heavyweights Pierro and All Too Hard.
The son of Fastnet Rock has sired more individual winners than both of those two stallions combined but trails Triple Crown winner Pierro on the all important earnings scale with only a few months remaining in the season.
“You never give up, it only takes one horse in Brisbane this time of the year and he’s not far off.
“There is only $150,000 between him and Pierro and it doesn’t take long to turn that around.
“It’s pleasing that Your Song has had eight individual winners of 11 races, a stakes winner, three stakesplaced horses and the thing I like most about it is five metro winners.
“It’s not just eight winners in the bush, five genuine metropolitan winners and that puts him up there with the proper stallions.
“If you look at this sea- son not many stallions have had five metropolitan twoyear-old winners.”
On top of that, Your Song has sired a stakeswinner, stakes-placegetter or winner in every state of Australia.
“He himself wasn’t an early horse,” Thompson explained.
“He was a very late season two-year-old. He had his first start about this time of year and we saw the improvement that he showed at three so we are thrilled.
“I love the way they attack lineand just keep turning up.” .”
Your Song has the chance for another stakeswinner and an additional $128,000 to his progeny earnings when Tabbing tackles tomorrow’s Group 3 SAJC National Stakes (1200m) on Goodwood day at Morphettville in Adelaide.
Your Song’s currently a close second to Pierro in the Champion First Season Sire
