Attorney files solid gallop
IT’S hard to line up what he beat but you couldn’t be anything but impressed by the well related STATE ATTORNEY’S winning effort at Belmont on Monday.
The youngster, who naturally races in the cerise and white of Bob Peters, is a full brother to WA Derby winner Respondent and a half-brother to exciting sprinter State Solicitor.
He was a trial winner at Pinjarra back in January but, as is the Peters norm, has been given time and he beat two rivals into ground in his 1000m trial this week.
After tracking the other pair to the turn the gelding picked them up under a hold and was asked lengthen in final 100m putting a big gap on them.
Those of us that have been waiting for ROGAN SCENT to debut after her stunning first trial win a couple of weeks ago shouldn’t have too much longer to wait following another eye-catching hitout.
She didn’t win this time but the three-year-old filly cruised down the outside to get within half a length under a decent hold.
She’ll be winning on debut, wherever Fred Kersley takes her.
YEAH DARDY was the most dominant winner by margin at the Belmont session and he went to line full of running to score by six.
He’s lightly raced won an Ascot maiden first-up last preparation. Ex-Godolphin gelding
CRUACHAN had his first trial for Simon Miller and while beaten a few lengths in third in his heat he was kept under a tight grip and surely had plenty more to give. Unraced two-year-olds TAKE THE STAND (Simon Miller) and FORCEFUL (Grant & Alana Williams) hit the line locked together in their 1000m trial and each run had merit.
Take The Stand led kicked away before just holding off Forceful who followed him but took a while to wind up and close the margin.
TIME ON MY SIDE has now won two trials leading into her return and if she’s taken a bit of improvement from the break she may break through.
The filly has run fifth at Ascot in both her starts to date and proved a bit too speedy for her rivals after stealing a break around the bend. A few others to trial well were ACTION, POND ZERO and VENUS EBONY.
