Tara chasing G1 to boost value
SIX mares racing at Eagle Farm tomorrow including Group 1 hopeful Tycoon Tara will go under the hammer at next week’s Magic Millions National Sale on the Gold Coast.
Tycoon Tara is presently a winner of two Group 2 races and three Group 3’s with earnings of $853,370.
How much more she will be worth in the ring as a Group 1 winning millionaire only time tell but clearly she will be one of the most sought after mares at this year’s auction.
Tycoon Tara’s quest for a Group 1 comes in tomorrow’s $700,000 Darley Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m).
Meanwhile in the preceding race – the Group 3 BRC Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m) – one quarter of the field is catalogued in next week’s sale namely Miss Cover Girl, Elle Lou, Cavalove, Just A Blur and Alaskan Rose.
The 2017 National Broodmare begins at 10am on Tuesday at Magic Millions HQ and runs through until Friday evening with more than 1000 fillies mares set to change hands.
Among other high profile entries are multiple stakes performers Gregers, Miss Gunpowder, Samara Dancer and Rocket Commander from the Willow Park Stud draft.
The seven time winner of $417,460, Rocket Commander is in great form, in full work and will be sold as a Racing Breeding proposition.
The daughter of Court Command won the Group 2 ATC Winona Girl at Randwick this preparation, was third in Listed SAJC City of Ad- elaide and last start a fortnight ago she was beaten just over 3-lens in a Group 2.
“Since her last race, she has been treated by the chiropractor and he couldn’t believe that finished so close in a Group 2 race given how much she was out,” Willow Park’s Glenn Burrows said.
“Matt Dale (trainer) reports her demeanour has turned around too, and she’s bouncing like a two-year-old.
“This mare still has plenty to give on the track, should the successful bidder elect to go that way, and of course has great residual value when she retires.”
