SPORTSMAN’S team reports on the best runs from around Australia at provincial tracks in NSW, Victoria, South and Western Australia. Mark these as horses to follow for their next two starts:

Ridden along to chase and conceded more ground to get around another horse at the top of the straight. Once he did wind up he charged home with a nice tur n of foot from an impossible position to cut the margin to three lengths. Stayed on the fence and was held up inside 200m and when she came off the inside she was put straight into a pocket and was untested to the line. Didn’t get a look in at all here first-up. My Unicorn (4th to She’s A Pluck, 1014m Mdn): eased out to last from the outside gate and found the fence. Star ted track up under some pressure before the turn and taken wide. Ran about a bit as she made ground largely under her own steam to be right on the placegetters’ heels. Two-year-old far from disgraced here on debut and open to improvement. NORTHAM (WA) 25/5 – Good 4 Orabreeze (3rd to Rosie Red Dress, 1400m 3yo Mdn): restrained at the star t and saw them all early on. On the back of winner coming to the tur n and travelled well then came off the bit and found himself inside that horse and held up. Badly blocked for a run until about 150m out had no time to wind up again getting into third. Lightly raced and would have made it interesting if he’d had a clear run. GEELONG (VIC) 26/5 – Good 4 Rimraam (2nd to Lady Louise, 1100m Mdn): not asked for anything early and settled at the back. About six lengths off the lead coming to tur n and stoked up. Didn’t exactly sprint hard but kept winding up and went within half a length, getting away from the rest. Promising debut against the older horses and she looks to have some ability. NEWCASTLE (NSW) 27/5 – Good 4 Organza (2nd to Bull Market, 1300m 2yo Mdn): jumped with them and eased to get some cover and wound up in the three wide line near the tail. Crept forward coming to tur n took about 100m to hit top gear. Sustained a long run and just failed to pick up the winner with big gap to third. Good improvement into her second star t and she looks ready to win. PAKENHAM SYNTHETIC (VIC) 30/5 Perfect Statue (2nd to From The Clouds, 1000m Mdn): away well enough and eased out of the speed battle to settle four th on the fence. Held up for a run before the turn and when she pushed through one gap she was again stopped in her tracks at the 200m. The race over got out and ran into second. May not have won but should have finished a lot closer here first-up. BELMONT (WA) 31/5 – Good 3 Rogan Scent (3rd to Cool Knight, 1400m 3yo 0mw): fairly beforefence out comingtakingand pushedto a trail.the tur Found forwardn.
