The Sportsman Weekend - - Front Page - MATT JONES

THE World’s best mare Winx is ready to hit her rivals for six at Randwick tomorrow and raise the bat on an incredible 20 straight wins. Winx hasn’t lost a race in 488 days.

The Chris Waller trained mare goes into tomorrow’s Colgate Optic White, the old George Main Stakes, in fabulous order.

WIN X does the impossible on the track, but she also defies logic off it .

The champion i nes up for a crack at a 13th Group 1 win in tomorrow’ s George Main Stakes and if she wins as expected she’ ll notch her sixth major at the Rand wick m le.

That’ s one more than great Super Impose.

Waller said last week that 1600m washer best distance and she’s able to extend speed to 200 which is the why she’s the Cox Plate race record holder.

But it ’s her weight t hat ’s got her trainer bemused.

“She actually put on 3 kg after he Chelmsford ,” Waller said.

“It con fuses you a it t le bit be - cause she starts the preparation 10kg heavier and you wonder whether they’re fit enough then she holds the weight the whole time .”

Win x weighed 4 8 0kg as a three - yea r- old, was 3 heaver yea r later, tipped the scale sat 530 kg as a five-year-old and remains so now at six.

She’ ll also wear the earmuffs once again, and don’t think Red Excitment will be given such a big lead in after he gave the Winx camps care in the Chelmsford Stakes.

“I’m more than happy to leave the earmuffs on ,” Waller said.

“We went through the sectional times (of the Chelmsford) and it looked to us that first hal f of the race was run relatively slow second hal f was run very quick.

“I’m happy with the way she’s going and she looks fantastic .”

Tomorrow is likely to be Winx’ s last run in Sydney before she heads to Melbourne for a tilt at a record equal ling Cox Plate.

She’s stated working the reverse way of going at Rose hill.

“I’m just keepi her even,” Waller said.

Winx didn’t win first two this preparation ith her usual auhor ity, but Waller dismissed it was be ca us et heightening fast firm tracks we reg iv her opponents more of a chance against her.

“It doesn’t concern me as much as over racing her ,” he said.

“We’ re going to miss a race somewhere and I’m pretty sure it will be that day( The Everest).”

Win x’s stablemate Fox play, who ip st scale sat 470 kg, will also line up in the George Main Stakes after Waller opted to triaheri nstead of forcing her lug 59 kgn the Theo Marks Stakes last weekend.

“I was happy with her trial. I thoughts her an through the line nicely ,” he said.

Winx is chasing her 20th straight win in the George Main Stakes.
