ARAMAYO from the James Cummings stable showed a good turn of foot when winning the Spring Stakes over 1600m at Newcastle recently and has trained on well since.
The three-year-old son of Poet’s Voice looked a happy horse Saturday morning when he worked solo on the Pro Ride over 1200m in 1.25.16 with his final 400m in 25.17 and last 200m 12.1.
He went to Godolphin’s Agnes Banks (Hawkesbury) training facility on Tuesday for his final piece of work which satisfied his trainer and I have no doubt that he will have no trouble running out a strong 2000m in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at Royal Randwick tomorrow.
FIERCE IMPACT had to go back from a sticky gate when he was first-up over 1400m at Rosehill fortnight back and did a good job to run on for second after giving away a big start.
Trainer Matthew Smith has been happy with the way he came through the run and on Tuesday morning he galloped with a mate on the Course Proper over 1400m in 1.39.1, his final 400m in 26.12 and last 200m in 11.66 forging clear of his partner on the line.
He was able to win second-up last time in and he has a great chance in race five tomorrow.
Stablemate AQUA D’IVINA is a classy mare who has had setback after setback throughout her short career so hopefully everything goes well for this preparation as she heads towards the Matriarch Stakes on the last day of Cup Week at Flemington.
She has been progressing well since her first-up second and last Saturday morning she produced a good piece of work on the Course Proper over 1400m in 1.35.68 with her final 400m in 23.29 and last 200m 11.51.
She runs next Wednesday at Warwick Farm over 1600m and will prove hard to beat.
TOP STRIKER has been up for a while now but he continues to work well and on Tuesday he galloped on the Pro Ride over 1000m in 1.04.42 with his final 400m in 22.84 and last 200m 11.43.
Trainer Greg Hickman is due for a change of luck and it may come his way in the last race tomorrow.
