Scoot your boots to Tam­worth

You think you’re a coun­try mu­sic fan? Well, you might know all the words to ev­ery Slim Dusty track, but if you’ve never been to Tam­worth in Jan­uary, then you’re still a city slicker. The le­gendary Tam­worth Coun­try Mu­sic Fes­ti­val takes over in NSW’s an­swer to Nashville from Jan­uary 14 to 23, and this is a place you can be cer­tain there won’t be any pubs with no beer – they’ll be fully stocked. Last year’s fes­ti­val hosted 2500 events by 800 artists in 120 venues, and this year will be even big­ger, cow­boy. On the fi­nal day of the fes­ti­val, one of the biggest icons of the coun­try mu­sic world, Kenny Rogers, will head­line the hoe­down in the home of the Big Golden Gui­tar. There’s a vast ar­ray of ac­com­mo­da­tion op­tions avail­able in and around the town, in­clud­ing ho­tels, mo­tels, car­a­vans, farm­stays, B& Bs and camp­ing – but a word to the wise, book early be­cause vast num­bers of coun­try fans de­scend on the town.
