Beauty Maintain a rosy glow with next-gen blushes.
From a youthful flush to a bronzy glow, make blush your best asset
Blush is make-up’s overachiever. It instantly adds energy to a weary complexion, mimics a youthful flush and, in a pinch, it can double as eye and lip colour. Yet most women still skip it as part of their daily routine.
“It can completely transform your complexion, but the trick is choosing the right shade for your skin tone,” says Lancôme national make-up director Lara Srokowski.
Fair tones work with soft pink, coral and peachy blush shades; medium skin tones suit bronze, peach and warm mauves; and darker skin tones pop against fuchsia, coral and rich berry blush. Powder blushes are the most popular and tend to last longer, while liquid and cream formulas give a more natural finish.
Once you’ve got your shade and formula, application is easy.
“A little blush on the apples of the c cheek lends a subtle glow,” explains S Srokowski, who advises smiling to help locate this spot. “And always blend up and out towards the tops of the cheekbones for a lifted effect.” I If you’re more adept, try sweeping bronzer under the cheekbones for a more chiselled look.
