This series would be really interesting if one of the six young actors seeking fame and fortune in Hollywood actually made it. The footage of them struggling to get their first big break could then be trotted out at every opportunity, either to embarrass them or show how far they’ve come. Of course, they may already be such great actors that their appearance on this documentary series could be a carefully crafted performance. It doesn’t really matter though, because watching the three Sydneysiders and three Melbournians (where are the Queenslanders?) get their hopes up and then crushed is great, if at times uncomfortable viewing. The series well and truly puts paid to any notion of the possibility of being an overnight success. It should be compulsory viewing for any acting wannabe.
