DOG SOLDIERS (2002) 7MATE, 11.30PM, AV15+, HORROR

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Thrillseekers who enjoy a scary movie should relish this flick from tyro English writer-director Neil Marshall, which provides more than a couple of shattering moments. Instead of the customary innocent teenager horrormovie victims, Marshall’s prey for the werewolves prowling an isolated part of the Scottish highlands are crack soldiers from a special operations unit. While there is plenty of gore, it is occasionally relieved with scenes designed to at least crack a smile. While some of the effects aren’t as sophisticated as you might expect, the twists to the familiar genre keep tension tight. ★★★
