THE MAGIC OF BELLE ISLE

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

If this was a TV movie of the day, it would be five-star entertainment. But as a feature film, it is just too overly sentimental and has too many sub-plots that don’t go anywhere. Morgan Freeman and Virginia Madsen do a reasonable job as the crabby Western novelist with the incredible name of Monte Wildhorn and the attractive soon-to-be single mum, who unexpectedly find themselves neighbours and friends. The magic is lost as the movie is distracted by Monte’s battle with the bottle, his relationship with a mentally challenged young man, an overzealous fan and a dog he hates (but of course, comes to love). ★★✩ Extras: None
