OSAMA (2003) SBS TWO, 11.10PM, M, DRAMA

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Osama is the name taken by the film’s central character, a 12-year-old Afghan girl (played by the untrained Marina Golbahari) who lives under the Taliban regime. Siddiq Barmak’s film exposes the dangers of fanaticism and religious extremism, and was the first feature completed in Afghanistan and edited in Iran after the demise of the Taliban regime. Obviously influenced by the natural style of films made by Iranian Abbas Kiarostami, Barmak paints a simple but totally compelling story. ★★★★
