Dean Gladstone is one of the stars of Channel 10 reality hit Bondi Rescue and is charged with keeping Australia’s most famous beach safe. TV Guide caught up with the lifeguard to find out about his favourite things and what he gets up to when he’s not patrolling the popular strip of sand.

Holiday spot: Can’t beat Bali! Thing to do on the weekend: When I’m not working, I love bacon and eggs after morning exercise. If I have had a busy week I like to chill out on the weekends.
Place to go to relax: Yoga. I have tried to meditate but I prefer to move. I find the yoga teacher’s voice soulful and relaxing, and I love the positive vibe.
Hobby: Cooking and eating tasty, healthy food.
Sport to follow or play: Rugby league – go the Roosters! I also enjoy watching the Sydney Swans in AFL or the Sydney Kings in basketball.
Dinner conversation topics: As most new parents may know, we find we are discussing our two-year-old daughter.
Room in your house: Our kitchen and lounge room are one big room which we spend lots of time in. Place to hide from everyone: In the ocean. Art piece: My TV. Item you can’t live without: I love my foam roller. I usually do a little stretching routine most days. Luxury product: Organic grass fed meat.
Meal of all time: Mud crab. I love seafood but my wife is allergic to it so I don’t eat it often. Dish to cook: Slow-cooked lamb roast with pumpkin, potatoes roasted in tallow or duck fat, steamed greens, homemade gravy. Ingredient: Love! Food must be cooked with love. Guilty pleasure: Cocoa coconut smoothie with raw milk or cream if I can get my hands on it! Bar: I don’t drink much but enjoy a cold Bintang beer in Bali or with the boys after a long day on the beach. Restaurant: Bondi Icebergs in Bondi, Sydney – beautiful view, amazing food.
