1 MANCE RAY­DER

(Ciaran Hinds) Best known to TV view­ers as Julius Cae­sar, the ac­tor plays Wildling leader Mance Ray­der. Ray­der was a loyal mem­ber of the Night’s Watch un­til he broke his vows and went to live with the Wild­ings. There he be­came The King Be­yond the Wal.

2 BRYN­DEN TULLY

(Clive Rus­sell) The ac­tor, who pre­vi­ously starred in Sher­lock Holmes: A Game of Shad­ows, plays Cate­lyn’s un­cle, nick­named ‘‘The Black­fish’’. He is a skilled and ex­pe­ri­enced fighter who made his name

dur­ing the War of the Ninepenny Kings where he proved in­valu­able to King Robb Stark as an ad­viser.

3 SEL­YSE BARATHEON

(Tara Fitzger­ald) The and ac­tor will play the es­tranged wife of Stan­nis Baratheon and mother of Shireen. She be­came his queen af­ter Stan­nis claimed the Iron Throne. She is a de­vout be­liever in the Lord of Light but spends much of her life in seclu­sion.

(To­bias Men­zies) The Rome and Spooks star play’s the flawed younger brother of Cate­lyn Stark

and the new Lord of River­run. He is in­tro­duced

to the se­ries through a Tully fam­ily event where it is em­pha­sised that he is the

heir ap­par­ent. Men­zies de­scribes his char­ac­ter as

‘‘kind of a sap’’.

4 ED­MURE TULLY

OLENNA TYRELL

(Diana Rigg) The ac­tress, who played Emma Peel in the cult 1960s drama,

plays ‘‘The Queen of Thorns’’ and

grand­mother to Mar­gaery and Lo­ras Tyrell. She will be one of 27 pri­mary pro­tag­o­nists and strong ma­tri­arch for

the House of Flow­ers.
