JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE (2006) ELEVEN, 8.30PM, PG, COMEDY

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Hell hath no fury like a teenage girl scorned, it seems, in this innocuous comedy that entertains despite never living up to its vicious title. The titular character ( Desperate Housewives’ Jesse Metcalfe, below left) is a hunky ladies’ man, who is dating three girls (Arielle Kebbel, Ashanti and Sophia Bush) simultaneously. When each discover they’re not John’s one-and-only, they team up and plot to humiliate the jock. The scheme’s trump card is the recruitment of a goody-two-shoes new student (Brittany Snow) who pretends to succumb to his charms to further his punishment. Metcalfe proves a good sport, and the girls convincingly sell both the sweet-and-sour aspects of their personalities. ★★★
