ZOMBIELAND (2009) GO! 9.30PM, AV15+, HORROR

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

While not in quite the same league as the classic “zom-com” Shaun of the Dead, this gruesome guilty pleasure is only a notch below. Jesse Eisenberg stars as neurotic narrator Columbus, a nervous youngster who appears to be the last survivor of a zombie apocalypse and is trying make his way back home to his parents. Along the way, he runs into gun-toting cowboy Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), and the two unlikely partners hit the road together to try to stay one step ahead of the ferocious flesh-eaters. But they soon find themselves without weapons or transportation after they’re scammed by savvy sisters Wichita ( Superbad’s Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin). Circumstances soon throw the four misfits together, and the dysfunctional clan must band together if they’re to survive the carnage. Full of sharp jokes, stomach-turning gore and a sublime celebrity cameo, Zombieland is an allround bloody good time. ★★★★

Striking a chord: Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg in Zombieland.
