FUN WITH DICK AND JANE (2005) GEM, 10.40PM, M, COMEDY

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Jim Carrey returned to his safe-bet comic genre for this Bonnie-and-Clyde-gonebonkers comedy, but didn’t necessarily bring many laughs along for the ride. The rubber-faced star plays Dick Harper, a lowly suit in mega-corporation Globodyne, whose unexpected promotion is a ruse to take the heat off his slimy CEO (Alec Baldwin) for the company’s impending bankruptcy. With Dick struggling to re-enter the workforce and wife Jane (Téa Leoni) in job limbo, they resort to the unexpectedly profitable and effortless pursuit of armed robbery to make ends meet. There are a few tightly wound jokes that arrive at big punchlines, but it’s mostly skittish humour throughout.
