Animated movies fall into two categories: those that appeal to kids and those that also keep the interest of the parents who take them to the movies. The Toy Story franchise is one of the best examples of the latter. Rise Of The Guardians is one for little kids only. That’s not to say it isn’t visually amazing, though. It does have some much-loved characters – Jack Frost, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy – and a cast of A-list actors to provide the voices (including Hugh Jackman and Jude Law). But while the predictable baddies-vs-goodies battle is a great message, the clever lines and laughs are in short supply. Definitely kids only. ★★★ Extras: Filmmakers commentary, special features: Dreamers & Believers, World of Dream works Animation and More Magic. ★★
