Couple still on the way up

OH, what you can do with a bit of imagination.

The season premiere of this twopart series checks in on a Sydney couple who bought a tiny, 7 x 6m block of land in Sydney’s Surry Hills with the plan to make the most of the space by building up.

They built across four storeys – one for the garage and laundry, one for the main bedroom and ensuite, another for the living room and the fourth for the kitchen and dining.

It was an ambitious project made even more difficult by a tight budget, the need for council permits and road closures and trying to fit building equipment onto a small space.

Two years after the unusual home’s completion, Peter Maddison is back to check how the couple have been enjoying their inventive pad.

Hearing from the couple about what they’d change about the home is interesting and prying into such a quirky home is also fascinating.
