RED EYE (2005) ONE, 8.30PM, M, THRILLER

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Horror maestro Wes Craven crafts his best film since Scream with this feature that ratchets up the tension to near unbearable levels.

Hotel manager Lisa Reisert (Rachel McAdams) is about to board a flight from Dallas back to Miami when she encounters a handsome stranger, dubiously named Jackson Rippner (Cillian Murphy, pictured with McAdams). Their mutual affection grows when they wind up seated next to each other on the flight – but the chemistry hits turbulence when Jackson reveals his true motives.

Craven’s near real-time thriller is a smooth ride, combining its plethora of tension-packed sequences with the signaling of Notebook cutie McAdams and Batman Begins bad-boy Murphy as bona-fide movie stars.

McAdams has no problem eliciting the audience’s sympathy and the chilling, cultured Murphy is at his sadistic best. From take-off to landing, RedEye is stunning in-flight entertainment. ★★★
