The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Wow, what a grasp we Aussies have on sexuality! Escape with three Sydney drag performers (Guy Pearce, Hugo Weaving and Terence Stamp) as they take a Stranded in the godforsaken town of Superior, Arizona, two-bit gambler Bobby Cooper (Sean Penn, above) enlists the mechanic from hell (Billy Bob Thornton) to repair his Mustang. Omen established, his day goes from despair to disrepair when the shapely and mysterious Grace (Jennifer Lopez) catches his eye. Oliver Stone’s playful cinematic souffle of derivative plotting, hyperactive imagery and comical caricatures is an oddly watchable desert film noir given legs by Penn’s humorously beleaguered characterisation. ★★★★
