Weather presenter Tegan George grew up in Brisbane before laying the foundations of her journalism career on the Sunshine Coast. She joined the Ten Network as a reporter and is now the face of weather for the network in Brisbane. Between studying the isobars and keeping an eye on the temperature we asked George about her favourite things. ENTERTAINMENT Movie: Love Actually. I’m terrified of flying but I love airports because of this film. Book: Anybody Out There by Marian Keyes. TV show: I have so many it’s hard to choose just one! I love Puberty Blues and MasterChef. Band or singer: It changes all the time. I enjoy pop music so I have favourites of the moment. Album: 21 by Adele and Rockferry by Duffy. Karaoke song: Horses by Daryl Braithwaite. Gadget: My food processor. HOME Room in your house: The kitchen. My husband is a great cook, so we enjoy spending time together on the weekend trying out new recipes. Place to hide from everyone: My garden. Art piece: A painting my Nana owned that she gave to Mum. It’s of a little girl sitting on a staircase with her St Bernard dog, which has destroyed her tennis racquet. Item you can’t live without: My kettle. I’m an obsessive tea drinker. Luxury product: My tea set and Royal Albert teapot. They were gifts and have great sentimental value. LIFESTYLE Holiday spot: Bunya Mountains (pictured). I’ve been going there for years. It’s so peaceful and relaxing. Thing to do on the weekend: Sleep in, cook and go walking with my two dogs. Place to go to relax: My Mum and Dad’s house for a cuppa. Hobby: Cooking and gardening. Sport to follow or play: I follow tennis, cricket and rugby league. I’m a huge sports fan. Dinner conversation topics: News, current affairs and the weather. FOOD Meal of all time: Mum’s roast chicken. Dish to cook: Quiche. It was the first meal I learnt to cook when I was in my early teens. Family recipe: My Aunty Sue’s cheese ball. Ingredient: Good quality olive oil. Guilty pleasure: Cheese. My husband’s family is from Spain, so they have me hooked on Manchego. Bar: Brisbane Riverbar & Kitchen. Restaurant: Thai Terrace at Rosalie. Cafe: The Velo Project at Mooloolaba. STYLE Style icon: Quentin Bryce (pictured). She always looks elegant and immaculate. Fashion designer: Reem Acra. Her gowns on the red carpet are always gorgeous. I love a bit of sparkle and she’s known for her beautiful embellishments. Piece of clothing: The jade silk gown my parents bought me for my Year 12 formal. I still adore it. Shop: Jigsaw. Their dresses are feminine and classic and seem to fit my shape really well.
