IL MARE (2000) SBS ONE, 1PM, PG, ROMANCE

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

A romance from Korea that manages to make a fairly dodgy premise work through beautiful seaside photography, themes of isolation and a winning sense of magic. A woman moving out of a seaside apartment block (Jun Ji-hyun, above) leaves a Christmas card for the incoming tenant. Meanwhile, an architect who has recently moved into a new apartment building (Lee Jung-jae) receives that card – the only problem is he’s in 1997 while she’s in 1999. On a whim, he replies, and a correspondence develops via mysterious means. Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves did it better in The Lake House (2006). Also stars Mu-saeng Kim. ★★★✩
