The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Lives intersect in unexpected ways in an all-star exploration of love, loss and relationships on the streets of the French capital. Gallic helmer Cédric Klapisch ( The SpanishApartment) makes great use of a dazzling ensemble cast, including Juliette Binoche, Fabrice Luchini and François Cluzet, to tell the story of a young man (Romain Duris, on his sixth joint venture with Klapisch) who is unexpectedly confronted with his mortality. His subsequent tour through the City of Light weaves together the lives of his beloved sister (Binoche), his neighbours (some known, some not), friends and workmates in a multi-layered story of love, familial bonds, loneliness and compassion. Death hangs heavily over the drama, not only with the protagonist’s life-threatening condition but in other, less obvious ways, yet this is not a morbid film. Despite the tough subject matter, it remains surprisingly uplifting. ★★★★★
