STILL CRAZY (1998) 7TWO, 11.40PM, M, COMEDY

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Underneath all the hairspray and glitter, ’70s glam rock wasn’t a pretty sight. And neither are the members of “legendary” band Strange Fruit, who are set to reunite their rockin’ teenage combo but find the years have taken a toll. There is added fun in spotting which ’70s artist each actor’s character is modelled on – Billy Connolly (above) as the roadie who bears more than a resemblance to Frank Zappa, and Timothy Spall as the John Bonham-like drummer. The script never dwells on “the good old days” sentimentality like Almost Famous, nor does it descend into sheer mockery like Spinal Tap. Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be. ★★★
