CALL THE MIDWIFE SERIES 2

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

The first series, based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth about her early career working in the slums of London’s East End in the 1950s, was so sickly sweet and wholesome, it would be easy to tire of young midwife Jenny Lee and her do-gooder friends. And yet the blend of heart-warming and heart-breaking stories, quirky characters and nostalgia continues to impress. While the first series was predominately about the work, the second builds on the away-from-work lives and the dreams of the residents of Nonnatus House. Their own tales are sometimes as bleak as the lives of the women and families they are trying to help. ★★★ Extras: Behind-the-scenes with cast interviews ★★✩
