LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION (2003) GO! 6.30PM, G, COMEDY

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Director Joe Dante ( Gremlins) introduces the WB gang to a new generation with this lightning-paced farce that mixes live action and animation in the style of Who FramedRogerRabbit. Brendan Fraser plays a sacked security guard who hooks up with a disgruntled Daffy Duck and becomes involved in a quest to find a magical diamond with Bugs Bunny and a movie executive (Jenna Elfman). With the nefarious head of ACME (Steve Martin) also trying to get his mitts on the diamond, other assorted Toon characters get roped into the mayhem. Dante is an expert at making kids’ movies with a decidedly adult slant, and this is no exception. ★★★ this faithful, eye-popping adaptation of the literary masterwork, re-invigorating the famed story of the boy who never grew up (Jeremy Sumpter, below left). His repeated run-ins with the sea dog Hook (Jason Isaacs) and his otherworldly adventures with the Darling kids feel like an illustrated storybook come to life. Also starring Richard Briers, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Lynn Redgrave and Ludivine Sagnier, this Pan is pure gold. ★★★★
