SUDDENLY 30 (2004) GO! 7.30PM, PG, COMEDY

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

It’s the late 1980s, and 13-year-old misfit Jenna (Christa B. Allen) longs to be a fully fledged adult. Thanks to some magic powder, courtesy of chubby best friend Matt (aka Beaver), she morphs into Alias’s sultry Jennifer Garner and finds herself immersed in the new millennium as a highflying New York fashion mag editor. Twee romance ensues as she seeks out the now predictably hunky Matt (Mark Ruffalo) and attempts to piece together the “missing years”. Inside, of course, she’s still 13, which is the set-up for many a comic situation. Tom Hanks did it better in Big, but Garner is a nice fit anyway. ★★★ the film’s title. The man who doesn’t call, the long-term boyfriend who won’t commit to marriage, the cheating husband – these signs are overlooked by the women who just want to love and be loved. Ben Affleck and Justin Long are two of the male combatants in this enjoyable battle of the sexes. ★★★
