GET SMART (2008) GO! 6.30PM, PG, COMEDY

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

In the film version of the classic ’60s comedy series, Steve Carell slips on the phone-equipped shoes of Don Adams as Agent 86 – the CONTROL-deployed, idiotic spy struggling to keep the world safe from the evil KAOS, though not without a great deal of help from his trusty partner 99 (Anne Hathaway). It’s obvious that everyone involved – including Dwayne Johnson, Bill Murray, Alan Arkin and Terence Stamp – has a tongue firmly in cheek and is not afraid of a little self-deprecation. With some quality action sequences and more gadgets than you can poke an umbrella gun at, there’s never a dull moment amid the slapstick. ★★★ anything and anyone stupid enough to intervene. A stellar cast including Jack Nicholson, Pierce Brosnan, Michael J. Fox, Rod Steiger, Annette Bening and Natalie Portman take pleasure in taking the mickey out of themselves. Out of this world. ★★★★
