THE IMPOSSIBLE

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

It is impossible to do this movie starring Australia’s Naomi Watts justice. It is based on the true account of a family on holiday in Thailand on Boxing Day in 2004 when the tsunami, which claimed more than 200,000 lives worldwide, hit. While the mere idea of making entertainment from such a disaster initially seems in bad taste, it is done with sensitivity and not as your typical Hollywood disaster blockbuster with all the glorified heroics and battleagainst-the-odds takes that approach usually entails. The story of one family makes it possible to understand, if only in part, the overwhelming horror or the tragedy. And it is impossible for weeks afterwards to look at the ocean without a shudder of fear. ★★★★ Extras: Commentary, two featurettes and deleted scenes. ★★✩
