Series on target

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS -

ARROW

Wednesday, 8.30pm, Nine THIS comic book-inspired action series offers a more polished episode this week that will leave fans of the show impressed, and may even help it earn a few more followers.

It sees Oliver arrested for murder and demanding that Laurel represent him in court.

This leaves Laurel and her father at loggerheads.

In this episode, the villain Deathstroke is also introduced to the fold (not counting the cameo of his mask in the pilot) during one of Oliver’s flashbacks.

Deathstroke’s costume is a little amateurish, but this is a great step forward in terms of integrating the full scope of the DC Universe into this show. His arrival also leads to one of the best fight scenes in the series so far, with Deathstroke taking on Yao Fei in a perfectly choreographed and cleverly edited series of punches, slices and jabs.

On top of this there’s the rift between Moira and Walter and the renewed romance between Ollie and Laurel, which all make for a very memorable and eventful instalment.

The corny lines seem to have been cut down. This was possibly a result of having two new writers, Wendy Mericle and Ben Sokolowski, in charge, and we hope for the show’s sake they stay on.
