PUBLIC ENEMIES (2009) 7TWO, 9.30PM, AV15+, CRIME

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Michael Mann’s slick and trigger-happy account of the rise and fall of infamous Depression-era bank robber John Herbert Dillinger is possibly the director’s best film since Heat. Johnny Depp stars as the charismatic crook whose lightning raids in the 1930s made him the No.1 target of the fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), and a hero to the disheartened American public. Mann follows the crim from his parole in 1933 (after nine years in the clink) to his demise outside a Chicago cinema in 1943. ★★★
