★★✩ (Out Wednesday) With its brilliant cast, superb performances and first-class adaptation of Matthew Quick’s novel by filmmaker David O. Russell, it’s easy to see why this flick became one of the most talked-about films of the year. It follows Pat (Bradley Cooper), a former school teacher who lost his job and his mind after he caught his wife having an affair. Fresh out of a psychiatric treatment centre, Pat is determined to win back his wife when he runs into the equally manic-depressive Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence, in Oscar-winning form), who promises to help him in his quest to salvage his marriage. Unlike the usual mediocre romantic comedies on the big screen, this one will keep you guessing and take you on a ride that you won’t want to get off. ★★★★ Extras: Featurette
