After hanging up his yellow skivvy, former Wiggles star Sam Moran is now entertaing kids with his own TV series Play Along With Sam on Nick Jr. The performer shows off his musical talents in the interactive and educational series aimed at preschoolers. TV Guide caught up with him to find out about his favourite things. ENTERTAINMENT Movie: I have recently rediscovered The Sound Of Music. I loved it as a kid, but now as a parent I appreciate it from an entirely new perspective. Book: Most of the books I read these days are to my daughter at bedtime. So my favourite is probably Going On A Bear Hunt or Room On The Broom. TV show: I’m such a fan of The Good Wife. It’s just smart drama. Band or singer: Stevie Wonder and John Farnham. Their voices are just impossibly good. Album: My father is Scottish so I was introduced to the Proclaimers long before 500 Miles. Their first album This Is The Story is just two brothers with a guitar. Each song is captivating. Karaoke song: I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness. I like the looks on people’s faces when they see a children’s entertainer able to sing it. Gadget: All gadgets. But my iPhone is never out of arm’s reach. LIFESTYLE Holiday spot: I have travelled so much that I really just love being at home. Thing to do on the weekend: Sit at a cafe with my family and the newspaper reading comic strips with my daughter. Place to go to relax: I love sitting in a park with as little distraction from the outside world as possible. Hobby: I am so fortunate to do so many varied things I love for a living. If I didn’t get paid for what I do, it would be my hobby. Sport to follow or play: I was 182cm tall at 14 years old so I played AFL as a teenager. Go the Mighty Swans! Dinner conversation topics: Movies generally. Everyone has seen one. HOME Room in your house: The shower. I get my best ideas there. Place to hide from everyone: I’m always playing hide and seek with my daughter and my favourite place to hide is in her cubby house. Art piece: My wife and I bought a beautiful painting in Venice and tracked down where it was painted. We spent time enjoying that area. Item you can’t live without: My iPhone. I feel disconnected from the world when the battery dies. Luxury product: Jeans. Not terribly luxurious, but if I’m going to wear something as often as I do jeans, I’m going to get the best pair I can afford. FOOD Meal of all time: I had the best Lebanese banquet in Abu Dhabi. I’ve eaten Lebanese countless times, but this time, every bite was exquisite. Dish to cook: Roast vegetable lasagne because it is fabulously delicious. Family recipe: Zucchini frittata. It’s a recipe that has been used throughout my family as an easy and tasty way to get the children eating vegetables. Ingredient: Chilli. I also love coriander. Guilty pleasure: Pizza. Bar: Any rooftop place where you can unwind and take in city views. Restaurant: Sake´ in Sydney’s Rocks, it has the best Japanese food. Cafe: I love Cafe XXII in Pyrmont, Sydney. It used to be my local coffee place and I still drop by whenever I am even remotely in the area. STYLE Style icon: George Clooney is the epitome of how every man wants to age with style. Fashion designer: I’m not a big follower of fashion. I do love designers like John Varvatos and Tom Ford though. They combine comfort with a sense of elegance. Piece of clothing: I have a pair of leather Varvatos Converse boots I would wear everyday if I could. Shop: Apple Store. I will argue there’s as much style in that store as any fashion label. Artist: I like exhibitions of unknown artists just starting out. However, I have always loved Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol-style pop art too.
