The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

This effort from Superbad director Greg Mottola is a coming-of-age romanticcomedy set in a late-1980s amusement park that delivers much more than it promises. With dreams of moving to New York to make something of his degree in Renaissance studies, James Brennan ( The Social Network’s Jesse Eisenberg) is stuck working for the summer at Pittsburgh’s dodgy, rundown version of Luna Park. There’s light at the end of his personal “tunnel of horrors” in his sweet colleague Em ( Twilight’s Kristen Stewart, pictured with Eisenberg). This surprising film gets the balance between comedy and sentiment just right, never straying too far into one to negate the other and providing plenty of laughs with plenty of heart. ★★★★
