MRS WINTERBOURNE (1996) 7TWO, 2PM, PG, COMEDY

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

In a case of mistaken identity, pregnant 18-year-old Connie (Ricki Lake) is assumed to be the widow of the wealthy young Hugh (Brendan Fraser) whose mother (Shirley MacLaine) welcomes her and her baby into their palatial home. After initial trepidation, twin brother Bill (also played by Fraser) begins to fall for Connie and the tea leaves begin to spell out “happily ever after”. Recycling clichés faster than you can spot them, it’s a nip-and-tuck version of Sandra Bullock’s While You Were Sleeping (1995) given a resolutely old-fashioned comic treatment. ★★
