DADDY DAY CAMP (2007) GO!, 5.30PM, PG, COMEDY

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Cuba Gooding Jr plays cashstrapped Charlie Hinton who decides to start up a day camp for kids in his quest to earn a quick buck in this sequel of sorts to DaddyDayCare. Armed with little knowledge of the great outdoors, a run-down facility and a motley group of campers, it doesn’t take long before things get out of control and the camp is threatened with foreclosure. So Charlie enlists the help of his estranged father (Richard Gant). Former child star Fred Savage (Kevin in TV’s TheWonderYears) makes his feature directing debut, following much the same formula as the original as chaos, toilet jokes and slapstick gags reign supreme. ★ Imagine if FightClub impregnated TheKarateKid – their bastard child would be this martial arts drama. Teen rebel Sean Faris (above) is lured into an underground fight club where he finds a mentor in modern-day Mr Miyagi Djimon Hounsou ( BloodDiamond), who helps him prepare for the inevitable showdown with local bully Cam Gigandet. While not as hard-hitting as FightClub, young adults should enjoy the action and snappy one-liners. ★★★
