CON AIR (1997) SEVEN, 8.40PM, M, ACTION

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s big-budget action spectacular doesn’t translate so well to the small screen. Nicolas Cage plays a former commando locked up for murder for eight years, after protecting his wife during a bar-room brawl. After finally being approved for release from prison, the plane due to carry him to freedom is hijacked by the other convicts who promptly head for Las Vegas (where else?). Despite the talent on show, Cage and John Malkovich struggle with the inept script. Perhaps a couple of smaller explosions would have left enough cash for the producers to iron out the creases in the script. ★★★
