UNFORGIVEN (1992) GEM, 8.30PM, M, WESTERN

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Clint Eastwood (above) certainly knows his place in the pantheon of cowboy movies. By subverting every rule of his legendary “man with no name” character, as well as the standard clichés of westerns, he comes up with a tense and thrilling ride that explores the dark side of humanity with maturity. A retired gunslinger (Eastwood) reluctantly takes on one last job, with his old partner (Morgan Freeman) and a young man (Jaimz Woolvett) in tow. Eastwood is in superb form and is matched by Gene Hackman as the malevolent small-town sheriff. A revelation. ★★★★
