The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Barbra Streisand fans should get a kick out of seeing her name feature on the credits as star, director, producer and writer of this interesting but far too long story of a Jewish girl who disguises herself as a boy to pursue religious training. Mandy Patinkin ( Homeland) is the man the dressed up Babs falls for, which leads to all manner of confusion and subtle transgressions. Of course it wouldn’t be a Streisand film without a few ballads belted out for good measure, but it’s a long walk in the desert (133 minutes) for only a little water. ★★★
