WORLD TRADE CENTER (2006) ONE, 10.30PM, M, DRAMA

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - TV Guide - - HIGHLIGHTS -

Director Oliver Stone chronicles the factual story of two Port Authority police officers (Nicolas Cage, above, and Michael Pena) who, after responding to the first strike on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, become trapped in the rubble. The film shifts between the two men and their fight for survival and the desperate attempts of their wives (Maria Bello and Maggie Gyllenhaal) to discover their fate. Stone avoids the politics and conspiracies that have been the hallmarks of his previous projects ( Platoon, Natural BornKillers, JFK) and delivers a human drama about tragedy and survival that heartbreakingly captures the day that changed the world. ★★★
